Abstinence Education Program As part of a federal and state grant to the Pennsylvania Association of Latino Organizations (PALO), this program provides specialized instructional services to youth programs in the community, i.e. Bethany Children's Home and the Police Athletic League. A culturally appropriate curriculum, "It's A Better Life." was developed to effectively address sexual abstinence and other at-risk issues while emphasizing the importance of education, personal responsibility, positive attitudes, and healthy life skills. The project also required the development of a local Advisory Council comprised of educators, community leaders, health care professionals, evaluators, parents, students, counselors, and clergy. |
