Job Title: Youth-Specialist Community Navigator

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt: This is a grant-funded position. Continuation is dependent upon the renewal of the grant or continued funding.

Reports to: Community Builder and Initiative Coordinator

Position Overview:

The Youth-Specialized Community Navigator serves as a dedicated advocate for youth, utilizing strengths-based wraparound service model to connect adolescent and young adults with vital resources and services in the community to prevent violence, promote positive behaviors, and foster long-term success. This position requires an individual that can effectively work with community partners to break down barriers of access to the tools and knowledge of TIC approach for adolescent youth, parents, and the community at-large, while also building and integrating networks of support to foster sustained impact. The Navigator will work with the Program Director to further enhance accessible case management and service coordination to youth and families in one-on-one and group settings. This role requires a deep commitment to youth empowerment, community engagement, and the promotion of safe, supportive spaces for youth development.

Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement: Build relationships with youth (ages 13–18) and caregivers through outreach in schools, neighborhoods, and events. Engage diverse, underserved populations through targeted strategies.

  • Service Coordination: Conduct assessments, create individualized action plans, and monitor progress to ensure youth access necessary services.

  • Trauma-Informed Leadership: Promote TIC by coordinating training and tools for underserved

    youth and caregivers. Oversee implementation plans, logistics, and community events.

  • Positive Youth Development: Foster resilience and safety through evidence-based strategies to prevent violence and promote positive outcomes.

  • Partnership Building: Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and stakeholders to strengthen support networks and advocate for youth needs.

  • Program Evaluation: Collect and analyze data to assess program impact and suggest improvements. Report outcomes and distribute bilingual promotional materials.

  • Work collaboratively with Centro’s Community Impact team and perform other duties as

    assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred). Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.

  • Four years of experience in community outreach, case management, or youth services.

  • Expertise in trauma-informed care, violence prevention, and group facilitation.

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with strong communication skills.

  • Knowledge of local resources and experience with at-risk, underserved youth.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and in teams.

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

  • Clearances for child abuse and criminal history.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; certifications in Trauma-Informed Care, Mental Health First Aid, conflict resolution, or restorative justice are preferred.

Intern

Job Purpose: Under supervision of the Human Services Director, the Intern position is responsible for representing Centro Hispano in a courteous and efficient manner by providing the duties as assigned, while learning key aspects of the position for future employment opportunities.. Bilingual in Spanish REQUIRED.

 Intern Duties and Responsibilities
